Bring me Sun Sundays..

Since all I think about is how badly I wish it was summer, I thought this would be fitting to do every Sunday! I am on a continuous hunt for the perfect bikinis for summer, so every Sunday I will post my bikini of the week! Hopefully summer will come quicker if I have a small piece of it to look forward to every Sunday:)

This Sunday's pick...Boho Beach by Raisins...SO cute! I am def. buying this one:)

Anyways...the Grammys were awesome! Lady Antebellum, who happen to be my favorte band EVER, performed my favorite song! Their new album,Need You Now, is a must buy! Taylor Swift's performance with Stevie Nicks was one of my favorites..but Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles topped them all! I got goose bumps!!

Since there is a threat of black ice tomorrow I am not risking my life or others on the road to school tomorrow! I can barely walk on the ice outside our apartment, I honestly don't trust myself on the road! So it looks like another day inside with Cali, I am literally going crazy. We have listened to Lady Antebellum's new cd about a million times, and have seen every episode of the Bad Girls Club! But on a positive note I finally finished the novel The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I loved it and I did not want to finish it! Although I am the worst person at summarizing I will give a short recap. The Help is set back in the times of segregation. It intwines three women's point of view throughout the book, Aibleen,Minny, and Ms. Skeeter. Aibileen and Minny happen to be African American "servants", who are constantly mistreated by their white employers. Ms. Skeeter is from a white family, she graduated from college and moved back in with her parents. Her circle of friends have the typical attitude of the time, believing in equal but seperate accomidations for whites and blacks. Ms. Skeeter on the other hand begins to realize that this isn't who she was, and did not agree with how her friends behaved towards their black maids. Remembering her own childhood maid, Skeeter remebers all the good times she had with Constantine and how she became family. Skeeter, being a writer, wanted to write about the good and bad stories the black maids of Jackson, Mississippi. The novel goes on to tell of their struggle to publish a book that would raise quite a few questions in their town. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read. Being that it was just recently Martin Luther King Jr. day, the book was a perfect way to reflect on the past and how America has changed for the better..

Great start to the weekend..

Yayy for the weekend! My hubby finally had a day off this week yesterday! It was so nice to come home from class and see him, even though he was fast asleep on the couch! We went and saw When In Rome..not as great as we thought it would be. It is good, don't get me wrong, but it is more of a movie you rent and watch at home on the weekend. Since it was freezing outside and we hadn't had much alone time we decided to go home and cook dinner and just spend quality time together. As I was in the other room doing laundry, my hubby surprised me with a romantic little set up. He quietly lit candles, poured wine, turned off all the lights, and turned on our favorite song, Stay With You by John Legend. Ooooh it was amazing, we danced and he sang to me. I was so happy I was in tears. He always knows the right time to do little things to let me know that he loves me and he couldn't live without me.

After making a wonderful dinner together we just relaxed and caught up on everything. When we woke up in the morning we got a wonderful surprise...SNOW! Being from souther Cali we NEVER see snow. I've only been in snow once, so this was an exciting experience. I still can't believe how much it snowed here! We had so much fun throwing snowballs and getting all the ice off the hubbies truck so he could go to work. I looked like an eskimo with all the layers of clothes I had on. Our puppy Cali did not like the snow at all, she was shivering and her poor little paws kept slipping on the ice. Hopefully this doesn't last too long, because one day of snow is enough for me!!

You're In my prayers Grandpa..

Living on opposite sides of the country during hard family times is seriously very frustrating. My grandfather's heart is currently not doing so well. Since the age of 40 he's had two heart attacks, and has lived longer than any doctor ever expected him to live. He has a heart pacer attatched to him, and has had to change his way of living just to compensate for having a weak heart. A few weeks ago his heart rate was way above what his resting heart rate should be so my Grandmother rushed him to the hospital. They had to shock his heart five times to get it back on track, but it still would not beat correctly. He was then life flighted to a hospital in San Diego, where his heart pacer was installed, in hopes that his dr.'s would be able to fix the problem. They basically said that there was nothing they can do, and sent him home. After he was sent home, and I heard he was okay, I felt so relieved. I even called and had a long chat with him and he sounded just like the Grandpa Tom we all know and love. But today I got a call from my mom saying he is headed back to the hospital. I hate that I cannot be there to support my family. All I can do is hope and pray that he will be alright, and that he'll be strong enough to make it through. I wish so much that I could just get in my car and drive over there. I hope my grandfather and my family both know that I would do anything to be there with them and support them during this scary/stressful time.

Success!

My romantic dinner did not turn out exactly how I had intended it too, but it was still close to perfect. It was  awesome to surprise my hubby and show him how much I appreciate and love him. I started baking the velvet cake balls around 3p.m. One of the funnest deserts I've ever baked! Not only was it messy, it was hands on and so easy to make! They turned out amazing and I will be making them more often! My hubby usually won't get home till around 1 a.m. from work, so I started cooking at about 11 p.m. I had finished everything when he calls me at 1 and says he won't be home for a long time. So I kept all the food in the oven, noooot a good idea! I ended up setting off the fire alarm at 2 a.m. and it would NOT turn off. I would like to apologize to my neighbors, I did not mean to wake you up..false alarm!! The kabobs turned out to be so delicious, and the shrimp wrapped in bacon was pure bliss! It was fun learning new things to make and I am going to try to encorporate more new recipes into my meals!
Robert finally arrived home at 3:30 AM!! I was exhaaaused! I shook off the exhaustion, and opened the door with a huge smile! He knew something was up because it was quite and Cali Jean was not out running around. I took his hand and led him to the kitchen. Candles, yummy food, wine...it was perfect! He was so surprised and could not believe I actually cooked the food! We enjoyed a wonderful night morning together, enjoying the food and each others company. It was so romantic, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. It was worth all the hard work in the kitchen, and gave me a reason to dress up in a gorgeous dress!
Chocolate dipped strawberries and velvet dipped balls for breakfast..mmm,mmm,mmm!
The set up...

I have been searching for the perfect meal to cook for him...something that will test my cooking skills! I plan on making....

Rain, Rain, Go Away..

Whenever I wake up in the morning and look outside, I expect it to be nice and sunny..but instead I wake up to a gloomy, rainy day. What a nice way to start my day right? If there is one thing I can say I really hate, it would be the rain. I know we need rain but do we need THIS much of it? Being from California, I usually see rain five days out of the year! What can you possibly like about rain messing up your hair, causing accidents, flooding...oh my list could go on and on! I just can't wait for summer...the beach, tanning, swimming, flip-flops, bikinis, shorts, and sunglasses. I am def counting the days till we make it down to Myrtle Beach, then my rants about the rain will stop, I promise!

Anyways, my hubby and I went and looked at houses yesterday! It was so fun to finally have him home, but I felt guilty about making him drive around all day on his second day off in two weeks! We actually only got to look at the inside of one home because we were stood up by TWO realtors. The one home we did get to look at though was awesome! It is perfect for us and we'll actually be saving three whole dollars on rent!! If we do not find any others we absolutely love it looks like this will be the one. It has a huge backyard for Cali Jean to run around in, a fire place, garden, and a garage for the hubby! Now to start filling out the application...

Making a house a home..

I have spent hour after hour scrolling through pages of houses online, and not only that, the hubby and I spent a whole day driving around town in search of for rent signs. After all of our searching we have seven potential houses! Four of which we are going to look at with a realtor tomorrow! I cannot wait to get a house, not only because we need more space, but so our doggy Cali can have a yard to run in! I dread having to put her in her cage when I leave for school, I want her to be able to roam free and be a dog. It will also give my hubby and I a chance to make something our home. Before he got back from deployment I had to move us into our apartment all by myself, and since we'll be moving into our new house together I'm hoping it'll feel a lot more like home! I cannot wait to plant a garden, have house parties, and run around out back with Cali. It all sounds too perfect!

I am also praying for a safe return to all the soldiers deploying to Haiti, many of whom are close friends of ours. I hope the loved ones they left behind are able to stay strong, and realize it is all for a good cause. The situation in Haiti has made me realize that my husband's job is more than just being an MP. He could deploy on a moments notice when devastating situations like Haiti occur. I'll admit when I first heard my husband had volunteered to go to Haiti I was very upset. I didn't understand how he could so quickly volunteer to leave me and go to another country for three to six months. I had to take a step back and realize that this is his job, and he wouldn't be doing it right if he didn't volunteer in times like this. His volunteering just adds to the list of reasons why I am so proud he is my husband.

With the rush of the new year, and starting a new semester of school, I've put blogging on the back burner. But now that things have calmed down, I am back! I found this questionarre on my friend Katie's blog and figured it would be a nice start, and also allow my followers to get to know me a little better.

1. If you were stranded on a desert island and could pick one person to be stranded with you would you pick? Family members not included.

I would have to take my hubby, I don't want to go another day without him! Plus I know he can rough it better than I can so he's an asset I definitly could not pass up!

2. Do you read celebrity gossip?

I'm not into the celebrity gossip magazines, but I will watch E! News here and there

3. Favorite show you're waching this season?
As lame as it sounds, I am addicted to Jersey Shore..I can't get enough of the fist pump

4. How tall are you?

Five foot three...maybe taller?

5. What was the last book you read?

I honestly don't remember..but I am currently reading the novel The Help..amazing book.
6. Flats or heels?

Heels...flats give me blisters
7. If you had to choose one natural disaser to go through, what would you choose..Earthquake, Tornado, or Hurricane?

Well, being from southern Cali we experience earthquaks constantly..so I'd have to choose Earthquake..

8. Thong, panties, or (gasp) granny panties?

Thongs, or boyshorts:)

Besides being a 5'3, Jersey Shore loving, thong wearer...I am an 18 year old Army Wife. I married my husband September 16th,2009. We are high school sweethearts, and have been together for four years. He is truely the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I could not picture my life without him. We have overcome many obstacles together, which has mad us so much stronger in the end. I'm a Cali girl but the Army has taken us to the East Coast. I love it here..and am currently attending UNCP as a nursing major. I love children and my goal is to be a RN in a pediatrics hospital. Each day is a learning experience, not only with being newlyweds, but learning the life of the army wife. I look forward to all that 2010 has in store for us, and I cannot wait to share the ups and downs with the blogging world!
